Advantages of Pet Endoscopy

Pet Endoscopy Services

If you’re looking for a cutting-edge solution to your pet’s health concerns, look no further than Northfield’s pet endoscopy services. This innovative procedure allows our veterinary team to take a closer look inside your furry friend’s body without the need for invasive surgery. We offer the following specialized endoscopic services:

Gastroscopy

A procedure to examine the esophagus, stomach, and the upper small intestine using an endoscope. This aids in diagnosing persistent vomiting, ulcers, inflammation, or tumors and is commonly used to remove ingested foreign objects, such as bones or toys, without surgery.

Otoscopy

A detailed examination and treatment of the external ear canal and middle ear using a video otoscope. This is particularly useful for diagnosing and managing chronic ear infections or removing debris/foreign bodies deep within the ear.

Rhinoscopy

A procedure to examine the nasal passages and sinuses to diagnose the cause of chronic nasal discharge, sneezing, bleeding, or breathing difficulties. It helps identify polyps, tumors, or foreign bodies that may be blocking the nasal passages

Bronchoscopy

An examination of the airways, including the trachea and bronchi, using a narrow scope to investigate chronic coughing, difficulty breathing, or suspected lung infections. This allows us to collect samples for analysis (bronchoalveolar lavage) or remove foreign materials from the airways.

All endoscopic procedures are performed under general anesthesia to ensure your pet remains comfortable and still. Before the procedure, a thorough physical examination and potentially blood tests or imaging will be conducted to ensure your pet is a good candidate. Your veterinarian will provide specific instructions, which often include fasting for several hours beforehand to clear the digestive system.
